More destashing fun

My blog vanished for most of today. Did anybody else notice that? Very weird.

While we're on the subject of my blog...

According to sitemeter, yesterday I hit my all-time high number of hits. (Don't ask for the number, it's embarassing. Let's just say it is far, far into double digits.) In honor of this noteworthy occasion, I would like to hold a celebratory destashing event.

Who are you people? Leave me a comment, and be entered in a highly scientific drawing, the winner of which will receive one (1) mystery package of handspun yarn from the Shelf of Destashing, absolutely free. (If you're Cyndy, you might already be over your head in the stuff, but you can still comment and get your name in the hat.)

The fine print: You are ineligible to win if you are me or live with me. If you know who I am, or have lived with me in the past, or are related to me, you are still eligible. (I can be fair. And if you're in those categories, you can just ask for some yarn and I'll give it to you.) If you live in Australia, well, I send packages there all the time, so I guess you can still be eligible.

It's nice yarn. Just ask Cyndy. So comment, please, and say hi.

Now I have to get back to what I was doing, which was begin (begin!) the 1500 word speech that has to be done tomorrow morning. For point of reference, when we send speeches of that length to freelancers the expectation is that they will take 8-10 hours to write.

It's going to be a long night.

hey, no one commented here. Going to be a small drawing, huh?

I'm an occasional reader, less frequent commenter (although I have) and friend (at least in theory) of Penny and Shanna.

And while I don't knit (I know, gasp of horror) I do have other uses for yarn, and even a very very small yarn stash. (fits in one box.) I use it for crochet (made quite a few scarves and throw blankets); needlepoint (on plastic canvas -- the kids love doing this); and things like lion hair (mane and tail) on Purim costumes.

good luck with the speech. may it go easily and well.

by tomorrow, i need to write a 4 page paper on "Trademarks, domain names, and Internet governance" I guess I should start the readings? i know it's not very long, but it's material I've never covered before and I know little about.

and i'm a horrible writer. as you can tell. :)

I found you...hmmm...I really can't remember...maybe Julia's site? I'm Toni. I like reading your blog b/c I get a kick out of the stories with the boys - and I'm Jewish as well.

I don't know how to knit either - but would love to learn! I can crochet (like Miriam) - and can sew a bit. I'm big into scrapbooking right now with the two girls. I could use it for a couple of pages :)

I'm not going to comment, because I don't need any more yarn.

Oh.

penny, didn't we have you NOT going to law school?

I'm commenting. I'll enter the drawing, though I'v eno idea what I'll do with the yarn should I win.

I'm officially going to catch it for entering a drawing where I may end up with more yarn, but so it goes.

Best of luck with the speech--and here's hoping everyone in the house sleeps. Even you!

Oh, heck, you know who I am :) Well, kinda, I guess...

I'm writing more to wish you luck with your speech, and to tell you that when I checked your blog around 7 hours ago, it was here.

Hi. I'm an occasional lurker. I don't think I've commented here before, but since you wanted to know who your readers are I thought I should (and, you know, the possibility of yarn didn't hurt...).

Good luck with the speech. I should be studying for tomorrow's midterm, but I'm fairly burnt out on school for the day so I think I may do that in the morning.

Don't put me in the contest because it'll cost too much to ship it to Israel. :)

I Don't know how I got here, but I've been reading you for a long time ... I love your blog, love your kids and love your writing. I have no idea who you are or where you live, but I guess that's part of the fun of it all. Keep posting!

Hi Imma! I found your blog via Sarah's blog and marked it to continue to read. Not a frequent commenter though.

I don't think I've ever commented before, but I figured a contest was a good time to delurk. I found your blog through Sarah, and have kept reading it. I enjoy your writing style a good deal. I'm also a knitter, and in awe of the sweater you made for Sarah....

Hello. I will be stalking the postman tomorrow. I'm yet another reader who found your blog through Sarah P. and stayed because it is well written, heartfelt and funny.Let someone else have the thrill of winning. I feel like I already have!

I probable found you via Shanna, who I met through Miriam (comment #1 here), and I have randomly commented in the past. And I have no clue what I'd do with yarn. . . although my daughter likes finger-crocheting.

so I had just been thinking that I'd offer to knit (some of) your handspun into something of your choosing and get it back to you as long as you weren't in a great big hurry. I'm sure I have room in my stash for a little extra for a while, I just don't have time.

On the subject of deadlines, don't you hate it when someone else is late with what you need to make a tight one?

Hi there - another FOSP (Friend of Sarah Peasley) from Lansing. I love reading your blog because my daughter is about the same age as Barak, I would love to live in a city (but never will while married), and, well, you're just a good writer. Oh - and my family is of Hungarian descent, so any snippets of Hungary are very interesting to me!

But I already have a trunk-fill and several rubbermaid containers of my handspun!!!

Okay, I'm a lurker. I did leave a few comments a while ago.

I love your blog. I read it almost daily, which is a high compliment because usually I scan blogs for great knitting ideas and techniques. But your writing is superb and you have drawn me in.

I am a compulsive knitter and possibly obsessive mother of a 14 year old son and 12 year old daughter. I live a very urban existance having founded a parent/teacher run charter school in my inner city neighborhood. It's goal, in part, to bring together middle class and poor children and family. Very idealistic. It took over my life for 10 years, but I got alot of knitting done going to all of those *%#$ meetings. My son graduated from there last year and my daughter, in a bizare cultural change, is now in 7th grade at a modern Orthodox Jewish day school. Hmmm, now we're the diversity....Now there is a conversation we should have!

Keep writing. I'll keep reading--and maybe even comment.

So how'd the speech go?

I check your blog pretty regularly. I don't remember how long I've been doing so, but I know I got here first from Deb's blog (making me a real-life friend of a real-life friend.) I got a big bag of hand-dyed yarn from her before we left NY and I used it all... you can't ask for better yarn-recipient credentials than that, right?

Hi! I "found" you from looking at the yarn you have up for grabs at the "De-Stash for Cash" blog, and was intrigued with your blog title. I was planning on commenting on one of your newer posts, but I figured this one should be my first!

I want Chocolate! If I win, post it and then I'll email you ... how's that? But I only eat Chalav Yisrael ... will that be a problem? (There I go ... thinking I've won it already!)
